Film at Lincoln Center has announced the 2020 main slate of the 58th edition of the New York Film Festival. The 25 films that join the previously announced Opening selection, Steve McQueen’s Lovers Rock, Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland as the Centerpiece, and Azazel Jacobs’s French Exit as the Closing selection. Two other films from McQueen’s Small Axe anthology – Mangrove and Red, White and Blue – will also screen in the Main Slate.
In addition, the 25-film main slate includes films from 19 different countries from established filmmakers that are familiar to the fest and some making their NYFF debuts. This includes Gianfranco Rosi’s Notturno, Frederick Wiseman’s City Hall, Garrett Bradley’s Time, Jia Zhangke’s Swimming Out Till the Sea Turns Blue and Sam Pollard’s MLK/FBI. This year, Hong Sangsoo makes his 15th festival appearance with The Woman Who Ran.
This edition of the festival has a focus on international features which will provide viewers with a chance to broaden their horizons and get a good glimpse into some of the best filmmaking around the globe.
