As Cartography, New York musician Trevor Misplay makes neo-psych jams such as “Children” and “Sir Frances Drake” that have wowed us with their melodic sense and creative spark.
He’s since hit back with “Waiting for You,” an emotive colorful track that sounds like a new age mixture of his own, combining the colorful experimentation of Animal Collective, with an airy atmosphere and vocal arrangements that have a Beach Boys influence.
Below, find Misplay’s description of the track:
This song is about losing people you care about, relationships and love falling apart, but how holding onto even just some vague illusion of love in your mind can keep you company. The memory of belonging, at the very least, is something to reach for. Sometimes you just have to wait.
Cartography is 3/3 so far and continues to amaze us with some of the best independently released music we’ve heard all year.
