Mt Joy White Eagle Hall

Article + Photos by Ross Bernhardt

Mt. Joy and opener Adam Melchor brought warmth to White Eagle Hall in Jersey City on an otherwise cold and rainy late October night. The headliners came with plenty of polish, especially on new material, even if the instruments weren’t always working with them.

Guitarist Sam Cooper needed his bandmates to stretch at some points early on in the set to deal with some technical issues, and to keep things light, lead singer Matt Quinn joked, “It’s Sam’s first show with the band tonight!” The sellout crowd was more than happy to wait for Cooper to get his sound right, and the band made the wait well worth their while.

California-based but New Jersey native Adam Melchor got the evening started right, performing some new music himself for the hometown audience. His banter and lively stage presence set the tone for an incredible night of music.
