After a busy Day 1, I kicked off Day 2 of Newport Folk Fest with a set from Amy Helm, daughter of Levon Helm, legendary drummer of The Band. After taking some portraits of Kam Franklin of The Suffers, it was off to catch rising country star Margo Price and a little bit of Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats.
It was then off to catch the always lovely Lady Lamb, before being swept away by the grand anthems of Scottish rockers Frightened Rabbit. Ryan Adams was next, accompanied by The Infamous Stringdusters and Nicki Bluhm for unique offerings of his songs and other covers in a fashion that was definitely fitting for the festival.
I ended the day with a performance from New York legend Patti Smith, who had a great rapport with the enthusiastic crowd, who won over her heart, and vice versa. It was a nice end to a great jam-packed day of music.
Find photos of all the performances I caught posted below.
