Dean & Britta (Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips of Galaxie 500 and Luna) have teamed up with Sonic Boom, to release, A Peace of Us, a collabrative album featuring diverse holiday tunes through their shared musical imaginations. It will come on out November 22nd via Carpark Records.

The collection of songs draws from early ‘60s pop, garage, country, James Bond soundtracks, Christmas carols, and electronica.

Along with the album’s announcement last week, the band shared a cover of Willie Nelson’s  “Pretty Paper”, that gives it a late-night synth spin that feels like it’s made for a cinematic moment in a club. A nice deviation.

Wareham shares, “this was a hit for Roy Orbison in 1963 and it’s a pretty song but the lyrics, about a man who sits alone on the sidewalk outside a department store selling ribbons and paper, are sad.

Watch the video for “Pretty Paper” below, which is directed by Leanna Kaiser.
