On Friday Nashville artist Mali Velasquez will release her debut album I’m Green via Acrophase Records. We previously shared “Tore” and with days to go until the album’s release, we highlight single “Shove.”

The track feels like it’s dipping back into the 90s, with elements of Big Thief and Andrianne Linker, but with a vintage atmosphere and style of production that gives it a raw edge that allows the emotional vulnerability to shine through triumphantly.

Detailing “Shove”, Vasquez adds:

“Shove is about a particular relationship I was in at the time, but also about trying really hard for the wrong reasons. I can drain a lot out of people and moments and sometimes I look back and realize how much I take for granted, and I wrote this song in an attempt to explain the feeling of seeing myself doing the wrong things in the perfect moment.”
