Nashville-based singer-songwriter Mali Velasquez is preparing for the release of her debut album, I’m Green, which will be released on October 13 via Nashville indie label Acrophase Records.

“Tore” is a stunning lead single that was released in the summer, that gives a touching raw approach that calls to mind some of the early days of Big Thief and Phoebe Bridgers. There is a pure and heartwarming songwriting style and vocal performance that is an absolute natural knockout.

Speaking on “Tore”, Velasquez adds:

‘Tore’ is a song mostly about my own way of self-sabotaging. I have no idea how to combat being embarrassed all the time still, but explaining it some has helped. Being comfortable in my skin is something that feels out of reach a lot of the time. I put a lot of my ideas of not knowing how to feel or what to do or eat or wear into this song.
