Fast-rising London trio headboy – who we first posted about last year – will release their debut EP, Was It What You Thought, on June 9th via Blitzcat Records.

Ahead of its release comes lead single “Cement” a song that zeroes in on the significance of friendship. It’s an accomplished smart and assured artful blend of indie rock and folk with an experimental take on 90s rock sounds – with free-form changes in tempo and even some slightly jazzy / mathy elements that allow it to stand out amongst the pack.

Speaking on the track, the band adds:

“In the heat of a turbulent summer, misrule reigned. Cement is about taking stock and refuge in the comfort of your friends and the people around you; and the rediscovery of friendship. It includes advice from Mars’ grandfather ‘don’t count the days it slows them down’ – a warning against wishing away life.”
