When we last shared music from Canadian composer Steph Copeland it was the more sparse folk-leaning “Love Didn’t Care For Me.” It was a much different sound than the one found on “What Sleep,” a song she did for the 2019 short film Defiance.
She showcases a magnificent range on the track which features elements of Mars Volta like prog rock with a heavy-hitting synth and electronic blend to the chaotic rock that has elements of artists such as Battles, Metric, and more. It’s a wild listen that rocks the hell out without compromise.
