Queens-based indie-folk outfit Diamond Grinder won us over effortlessly with their impressive debut single “Wonder”. The song came out last year but the band have given us the honor of premiering their new music video for the track, which marks our first post of the new year.

“Wonder” is a stunning indie folk effort that will win the hearts of fans of Big Thief, with its passionate songwriting and deliver. It’s a song that began when lead singer and guitarist Margaret Nygard began humming on her walks home from shifts as a waitress in San Francisco back in 2019. It found new life the next year during the pandemic, when she joined forces with multi-instrumentalist Eli Recht-Appel and the band was formed.

The music video, directed by Mimi Pfahler, features raw yet cinematic footage of the band taking on games of tennis, bowling, the road, and even a hearty meal at the finest fast food establishment.

Enjoy the video below, along with a quote from the band about its creation:

In terms of the video, the idea for it was conceived while Margaret and I (Eli) were bowling in Long Island City with the director, Mimi Pfahler. Mimi is also a friend of Margaret’s and mine from home (San Francisco, CA), and I used to work for her dad at the late-great SF video-rental store Lost Weekend Video. Mimi, Margaret, and I also hope to make some more movies together in the new year.
