Last month Nisa announced her new EP Exaggerate would be released on September 30th via Hit The North Records (their debut release).

With the announcement came the title track and lead single, a song that marked a bit of a sonic shift for Nisa, but one that still kept her songwriting ability plenty intact.

She has recently shared the second single from the EP, the equally vibrant and emotive “Affection.” So often when artists brandish a new element or sonic territory, they lose a chunk or all of their musical identity. That is not the case with “Affection” as she channels influences such as Frou Frou in a way that harnesses their ability to also bring a stronghold of emotion with electronic and pop flourishes.

Speaking about the track, Nisa says:

‘Affection’ focuses on the importance of tenderness. Nate [Amos] and I wanted the production to feel understated yet shimmery in order to communicate the power of nonverbal cues and little acts of care.”
