POP ETC are back in full force, following their wonderful return “Slips Away” the band also followed up this summer with “Heart Attack”, both of which will feature on the groups eventually new album.
The song showcases some Animal Collective / Beach Boys like vocal work and harmonies, with a strong emotional core running through it with a well-polished and crafted style of production which brings it to life confidently.
About the track, the band’s Chris Chu adds the following insight into its the reason it hits so hard emotionally:
recently i had a pretty crazy near death experience due to complications to an autoimmune disease i have. i woke up in the night trying to get a drink of water and i guess i passed out. luckily my partner heard me fall and got me to the hospital. all i can remember is being trapped in this groggy purgatory state where i felt constantly half asleep and half awake. the day i got home i wrote this song. it’s a song about choosing to live. even in the face of all the crazy shit life throws at us.
