The Dawdler, the project of Newcastle upon Tyne musician John Edgar, is gearing up for the release of his new EP Pursed Modern, due out on July 15th via Akira Records.

Last month we shared its lead single “Get Zen” and today we fire back with his latest single, “Cuckoo.” It’s another accomplished and emotionally devastating piece from the artist who has been able to consistently file such gorgeous pieces of work. Edgar does so much with a minimalist sound that touches the soul in the only way a good folk song truly can.

About the track, he adds:

It’s a love song, fundamentally. How beautiful the naivety of youth is, but with a bittersweet reference to impending doom. “See us hurtling around the bend, to our dismal end.
