The Birthdays is the collaboration between Ben Grey of Dear Boy & Jackson Phillips of Day Wave, who made their debut in 2021 with their first single “Bunny.”
They have since returned with the follow-up single, “Baby Blur” a song that transports us to those better days spent with friends when our biggest issue was finding when your crush was on aim and trying to figure out ways to aimlessly pass your classes. Dreamy 80s new wave and dream pop vibes galore, “Baby Blur” is an absolute winner.
About the song, Grey adds:
Baby Blur was the birth of The Birthdays. It was the first voice memo song idea I sent to Jackson, the first recording he sent me back and the first glimpse of what this project could be. We finished it a week ago and it honestly can’t come out fast enough.
It all seems like a Postal Service origin story, save for the fact that we agreed not to finish the songs until we could be in the same room together. I’ve never had a creative experience like this and it’s been nonstop joy.
