Brooklyn-based trio Colatura first won us over back in December with their single “We Run On Empty.” The band has since returned with new single “Team Sport”, with both efforts set to appear on their debut album, And Then I’ll Be Happy, which will be out on April 22.

The song shines with a bright-minded blend of classic indie rock with a shimmering style and gleen in its eye, with classic power pop charm and plenty of smart hooks that hit you harder than you initially realize. The combination of female and male vocals works perfectly for the jangly indie-pop sound that they play off of.

Discussing “Team Sport,” Colatura describes it as follows:

A sad song that sounds happy. It’s a feel-good tune until you start to listen to the lyrics… ‘who knew drowning was a team sport?’. The song is about two people who try really hard to make a relationship work but can’t seem to, despite their best efforts. It explores the difficult reality that in many relationships both people want it to work, but can’t seem to get on the same page, and in trying to make the other person happy, both end up feeling like they’re drowning
