New York-based indie-folk musician Lucas Stern is an artist who caught our attention late last year and has quickly followed up with his new album Vena Cava which was released on January 21st.

The new album kicks off in a most compelling fashion with “hug.” The single and opening cut set the tone for the expanding effort of Stern’s personal and intimate sound, weaving in a mix of distant electronic and folk with a heartfelt melancholic feeling of loss and love.

The same can be said of the equally transportive “poet” a song that feels pulled from 90s folk just with a more early era Alex G + Porches sound, a mix of the bedroom and the cosmos, finding the grandest moments from the tiniest most intimate moments.

You can find both lovely songs posted available to stream below and the entire album available to buy and stream at Bandcamp.
