Lucas Stern is a New York-based musician who operates with a bit of a low profile. But he has recently released his debut album 17, which harkens back to the days of 90s indie, folk, and slowcore.

Such as the enchanting opening song “Hiding From Friends” there is a melancholic and dreamy spirit as if you are hiding under the covers, content spending all day there with the one you love. While there is a raw nature to it, it still packs a rather emotional punch and a surprising bit of hooks.

Then there is the more meditative “Sleep” that follows it with a powerfully atmospheric and lingering sad presence in the air, with a hypnotic lingering power that pierces through you heart.

Both songs are available to stream below and the entire album can be streamed and purchased at Bandcamp.
