Normal Zac is the newly-launched solo project of NYC-area drummer Zac Coe, who began his musical career in Broadway pit orchestras before spending time as a drummer touring with bands like Del Water Gap, Rebounder, Claud, Nick Cianci, Nisa, and more.

During the pandemic, Coe started up Normal Zac as a way to maintain a sense of connection with the music community and his collaborators, eventually sharing his debut song “Marty McFly.”

Today Zac has returned with his second single, “Still Comes Up”, which features fellow NYC-based musician Nisa lending a hand on vocals. The song is due out official tomorrow but Zac has given us the honor of premiering the music video for the song with you today. Directed by filmmakers Kelsie Mason Ramos and Hope Wager, it was shot on location at Roadhouse Relics, a storied neon gallery in Austin, TX owned by artist Todd Sanders.

The up-tempo indie rock and pop mix balanced the thread of both genres in an honest way that depicts the risks and rewards of mixing friendship and romance. There’s a grand ambition to the song that captures that uncertain feeling that feels both hopeful and grandiose, yet also holding its head above thick waters of melancholy. What more could you ask for before you find someone to countdown to 2022 with come midnight tomorrow?

The video stars Coe & Nisa, along with local actors Lori Kovacevich and Anitaka Knight and you can get your first exclusive watch right below.
