Dream Dream is a Buffalo, New York-based band consisting of Justin Smith and Matt Cosmann (Aircraft), and Mike Santillo (The Tins).
The trio came together during the early days of the pandemic, making use of the new time on their hands to use towards this new creative spark after meeting at Mammoth Recording Studio, owned and operated by Smith and Santillo where their songs were birthed. The band creates a dreamy engaging rock sound that combines smokey guitars, colorful synths and groovy drum work that all adds up to create a melancholic sound.
Today the band has released their debut double-single, Chill Vibes // Blissin (via Admirable Traits Records), which they have given us the honor and privilege of premiering with you.
“Chill Vibes” is a track that lives up to its name and then some. Beginning as a slow burn psych rocker, it soon expands its reach to a glorious Explosions In The Sky-esque expansive guitar sound that certainly features some of Santillo’s trademark melodic grooves that hooked us so many times in the past with The Tins. The same can be said about “Blissin” another colorful and groovy psych anthem that is very much an ear-worm in its own right.
You can find the band’s description of both singles below, along with your exclusive first listen of both singles, which can also be found on Spotify.
“Chill Vibes” is a personal song that reflects on the back and forth repeating cycle of a dysfunctional relationship, while also expressing the emptiness felt by the absence of that untenable love. “Blissin'” is a nostalgic confessional harkening back to the emotionally dissociated years of one’s youth, reckoning with one’s past unkindness, an admission that is all but apologetic.
