Last August we premiered “Go Down Stairs to the Blue Moon, Buy Some Fried Chicken”, a single from Bubble Tea and Cigarettes, the New York-based duo of Kat and Andi, who made music in their bedroom, setting out to look for “an intimate connection with the listener: melancholy, nostalgia, evocation, and immensely beautiful melodies.”
They do just that and then some on “Santa Monica” a track that taps into an intimate and seductive emotional atmosphere full of radiant feelings of melancholy and longing. It feels like a hushed mix of Cigarettes After Sex and Beach House, with some of the strings reminiscent of The Last Shadow Puppets.
