Woody and Jeremy will be releasing their sophomore album Gravy in My Coffee on June 4th. The second single from the record “He’s Cass McCombs” is out now.
The song is very silly, but also a perfect homage. Cass McCombs has played with so many people and has such a distinct sound whenever he picks up the guitar. Woody and Jeremy nail that sound and even got the blessing of the man to release it out into the world.
The band stated:
“‘He’s Cass McCombs’ is a light-hearted, international funk style jaunt through a day in the life of the American master of indie, and our hero, Cass McCombs. We find Cass going to the store to buy bread (for toast) and returning home. But during this simple errand we learn many things about the mysterious troubadour’s character as well. With a second hand blessing from man himself we release this track into the world not as Woody and Jeremy but as apostles of McCombs.”
Woody is the keyboardist in Vulfpeck and has been creating music with Jeremy for years. The album was recorded with top-tier musicians in Chicago. Watch the video below and preorder the album now here.
