Stockholm four-piece Melby has returned with their latest new single “Somewhere New” following the recently released “Old Life.” Both with release via Rama Lama Records.

With “Somewhere New” they channel a more artful folk sound in the vein of Big Thief or Angel Olsen, shining through with the commanding impressive vocal performance from Matilda Wiezell.

It has an enchanting atmospheric performance with guitars that paint a vivid picture, one leaving Wiezell with plenty of room to roam. It also impressively shifts gears towards the end of its runtime, showing us their versatile nature as a band.

Find a quote from the band about “Somewhere New” below, along with a stream of the track.

The “Somewhere New” demo really set out to be this ambitious attempt at an indie song inspired by classical counterpoint composition. However, it evolved into something else when we started rehearsing it together, definitely to the better. The end result is this maxed out two-part journey spanning from low-key indie to intense psych-rock. So lean back and enjoy the ride, I guess.”
