Alex Rex will be releasing Paradise, his fourth album out on July 30th via Neolithic Recordings. Today he has released the first single “What’s Shouted In The Dark (The Dark Shouts Back)”.
The song is a wonderful mix of 60’s garage rock and James Murphy’s talking singing style of delivering lyrics. The song is rock and roll madness with an great bass line that goes through the song and a fuzzy guitar riff that doesn’t quit. Eventually that guitar roars to life in an absolutely ripping solo that melts your brain.
The song is described as being a study in homicidal love from the POV of the killer, with a flick knife riff, pneumatic drums and themes of self-deception and destruction that impress themselves on the brain like a deranged Mount Rushmore. It’s pretty great description given by the band.
