Last month we were introduced to Roller Derby, a rising trio from Germany who cast a spell with their debut song “I Wish” that instantly won over our hearts. That was just the start, as today they have returned with its follow-up, “Flying High.”
It’s another winner, sounding like a combination between Molly Burch and Angel Olsen, with an old-fashioned vocal performance from Philine Meyer (also on the keys) that sounds like it’s from a different era. But the instrumentation from Manuel Romero Soria (guitar) and Max Nielsen (bass) sprinkles in modern flourishes and dreamy arrangements that all combine to an enchanting effect.
