Savi Minds is the musical moniker of Los Angeles-based producer Mikale D’Andrea. Like so many of us, Covid-19 changed the course of his year. He suddenly had no job, no plans, and nothing to do. Although the pandemic took a lot away, it also gave him an opportunity to finish his album. He churned away in his bedroom studio for months before finishing the record which will be released later in the year.
It resulted in awesome psych-rock and electronic dance elements that channel a bit of a 90s vibe that works quite well with all of his production work and ingredients.
Or as he describes it:
I’ve been really inspired by the juxtaposition of dirty, grimy sounds right next to pristine ones. Comatose has this bombastic synth bass running through the whole song, but pretty guitars and breathy vocals are shimmering above it. I think it creates a really cool mood.”
50% of profits from the song on Bandcamp will go to Outward Bound Adventures, a charity that teaches outdoor education to underprivileged and BIPOC children.
