Icelandic singer-songwriter Axel Flóvent has returned with his stunning new single “Tonight,” which follows this year’s previously released Tourist EP and is a taste of what’s to come from his upcoming debut album due out later in the year via Nettwerk Records.
It’s a grand sweeping epic folk-rock effort that casts a particular mode and emotive quality. There’s a warm sincerity to his vocals that are well-suited for the well-built orchestration and horns that surround it all in a rich winning fashion.
About the song, Flóvent said the following:
I wrote the first ideas for ‘Tonight’ back in 2015, it has followed me since then as the first steps of the story I’m telling with my upcoming record. I wrote it as the prelude/introduction into the record and it evolved into being one of my favorite songs on the record.
It’s a song about finding stability in a place or a moment or a person. It’s about finding stability in something that has been there all along and you’re learning to appreciate it.
