Prior to this year we didn’t expect to see The Rapture perform live anytime soon. To our pleasure and surprise earlier this year they announced that they were back and performed at Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 30th as a warm-up for some festival dates. As if it wasn’t great to finally see them play just once, they announced another pair of dates once again at MHOW, on December 3rd & 4th.
We caught the night one performance last night which was both similar and different to what we got this time around, with the rotation of some of the tracks as well as an encore that featured some deeper cuts like “Out of the Races and Onto the Tracks, “Caravan” and their cover of The Psychedelic Furs’ “Dumb Waiters.”
But it was the tried and tested longstanding favorites like “Get Myself Into It” “Whoo! Alright – Yeah… Uh Huh.” “Echoes” and “House of Jealous Lovers that had the crowd turning back the clocks and dancing their way all the way back to the mid-2000s.
The quartet of Luke Jenner, Gabriel Andruzzi, Vito Roccoforte and Harris Klahr seemed to be having a great time playing these songs again and haven’t lost a step, sounded every bit as tight and groovy as they did the last time around, making me hope that maybe there’s a chance at some new music on the horizon and some more live dates to follow.
