The Undercover Dream Lovers is the project of Pittsburgh native, Matt Koenig, who has navigated his musical career completely as an independent act, going on to support bands like Parcles, Her’s and L’impératrice along the way.

Koening is preparing the release of the band’s debut album It’s All in Your Head in early 2020 and has made a brand new music video for its lead single “A Way Out,” that we have the honor of premiering with you exclusively today.

The track has a late-night chill vintage sound that pulls from 80s funk and glam rock, with some elements of acts like Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Toro y Moi and Tame Impala.

The video was directed, produced, and styled by Koenig along with Rivka Rose and shot by Micah Rynder and perfectly captures the smooth flow of the song.

Here’s a bit about the making of the video from Koenig:

“I had a spur of the moment idea to create a moody live video of the new material and was eager to do it quickly. I’m really psyched on how the live show has developed since I moved to LA and wanted to create something that would bring that to fans. It was really spontaneous and DIY and I even taught myself how to color correct and edit which, I think, resulted in a cool unique vibe that I’m really happy with.”
