This Tuesday and Wednesday will see the long-awaited live return of Animal Collective in New York. Fresh off of releasing their new album Painting With last week via Domino Records, the trio (no Deakin this time around) will play a pair of sold out shows at Irving Plaza in support of the new record.
It’s the first time they’re in town since their performance at Governors Ball in 2013, not counting all their collective solo projects, of course. It will be interesting to see what the set list looks like this time around as you never quite know what Animal Collective will give you. It seems like most of the new album is played, along with live favorites such as “Daily Routine” as well as older rarities such as “Alvin Row,” from their 2000 debut album, Spirit They’re Gone, Spirit They’ve Vanished.
It’s safe to say that we won’t know what to expect until we get there, which is always exciting.
Tickets for both shows are sold out, but keep checking throughout both days as some may be released.
