The Terminator is back. Or Arnold is.
With his recent return to the big screen after serving as the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to the franchise role that made him famous: The Terminator. Terminator: Genisys, the fifth film in the franchise has the T-800 serving as a protector of heroine Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), who really shouldn’t need much protecting, if you think back to Linda Hamilton or Lena Headey in the role. See for yourself in the trailer.
In terms of the overall franchise to date, this seems to come between the first two films, but because of the nature of time travel, Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) teams up with Sarah and the T-800 to once again stop Skynet and Cyberdyne.
Alan Taylor is in the director’s chair working off a script from Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. Also in the cast are Jason Clarke as the scarred John Connor, Byung-hun Lee as the T-1000, Courtney B. Vance as Miles Dyson, and Matt Smith and J.K. Simmons in unknown roles.
Based on the recent plot synopsis from EW, I was hesitant, but I’m a little less hesitant after watching the trailer a few times over. Then again, never pre-judge a film by its trailer, even if it has an eerie cover of “I’d Love To Change The World”. Terminator: Genisys hits theaters on July 1, 2015.
