Teaser Trailer

Trailer: ‘Crimson Peak’

By Will Oliver, February 14th 2015

In a deluge of sub-par horror films, a scant glimmer of hope emerges. The first teaser for Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak was released today, and what a breath of fresh air it is. I try not to write off movies based on a pre-concieved notions, but it really seems like Hollywood has run out of ideas to frighten us. All of the jump scares and demonic possessions have gotten a bit stale, and although they have their place, I think viewers are looking for something new.

Crimson Peak is a gothic horror film that seems to focus on creating an eerie sense of dread, rather than bait you into those loud startling moments. Del Toro was originally attached to a reboot of Disney’s Haunted Mansion, but the project went cold. I can imagine some of his concepts for that will make an appearance. The “haunted house” is such a classic idea, and though a few recent horror flicks like The Woman in Black (2012)have made valiant attempts, nothing has quite hit the mark yet. With Del Toro directing and a cast including Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, and Charlie Hunnam, I’m optimistic.

Crimson Peak hits theaters on October 16th, 2015.

The 2015 Super Bowl TV Spots

By Will Oliver, February 2nd 2015

Super Bowl 2015 TV spots

With roughly $4 million for a 30-second ad, motion picture companies would be nuts to not get some screen time during the Super Bowl. However, Marvel, Disney, and Warner Brothers held some of their most-anticipated cards close this year.

Human-Sized ‘Ant-Man’ Trailer Teaser Released

By Will Oliver, January 3rd 2015

Ant-Man Trailer Teaser

Yesterday, Marvel released a miniature “ant-sized” version of the Ant-Man trailer teaser. Only it was purposely too small to see.

Today, they followed that up with the full “human-sized” version of the trailer teaser ahead of the release of the full trailer, which will drop on January 6 during the first episode of Marvel’s new show, Agent Carter.

We get a brief glimpse of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, and Corey Stoll as Darren Cross. It’s a major tease, but hey, at least we actually know what we’re being shown this time.

Be sure come back here on January 6 for the full length trailer.

Ant-Sized ‘Ant-Man’ Trailer Teaser

By Will Oliver, January 2nd 2015

Ant-Man
Today, Marvel shared a pint-sized version of the Ant-Man trailer teaser – only it’s so small that you can barely make out any of the action. Got to hand it to Marvel, this is pretty damn clever and hilarious, but mostly very cruel. This comes ahead of the actual premiere of the trailer which will come on January 6 during the first episode of Marvel’s new show Agent Carter (on ABC).

You can watch the trailer below, but head back here on Tuesday when we will have the full resolution trailer to share with you guys.

Ant-Man is directed by Peyton Reed and will be released in theaters on July 17.

Mad Max: Fury Road poster

After spending almost a quarter of a century in development hell and actually seeing progress within the last decade, George Miller’s franchise anti-hero Mad Max is returning to the big screen in a big way – without lead actor Mel Gibson.

Trailer: ‘San Andreas’

By Alex Ebron, December 11th 2014

San Andreas Poster

Disaster movies! What could be more instantly gratifying than watching the world end or the city you reside in, fall to pieces? From The Towering Inferno, to the more recent 2012, disaster movies have always been void of any true material yet they will always attract audiences with great visuals and set pieces. How does one top this feat? Add a bona fide action star in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and no matter how brainless San Andreas might be, the audience will find some sort of satisfaction out of it.

San Andreas Still

The Rock plays a helicopter pilot from L.A. who has some sort of estrangement with his daughter (Alexandra Daddario). He’s from L.A., she’s from San Francisco, and a large-scale earthquake strikes. The Rock goes to San Fran to find her, along with his wife (Carla Gugino). Then there’s a scientist too smart for his own good (Paul Giamatti) who warns us that the earthquake will soon spread to the East coast. Pretty formulaic and standard for your disaster film right?

Nonetheless, the first trailer is filled with great visuals and a few thrills along the way. Director Brad Payton teams up once again with Dwayne Johnson. The last time they paired up was in 2012 for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. This tandem seems to work for great adventure pieces. Johnson, coming from the summer success of Hercules is on a hot streak and I expect San Andreas to keep fire. The Brahma Bull can’t be stopped.

San Andreas hits theaters on May 29, 2015. Enjoy the trailer below.
