After catching a hectic set from Ty Segall at Webster Hall, I headed to Mercury Lounge to take in a late night set from Oklahoma trio Broncho.

Last month the group wheeled me with their unfairly catchy single “Class Historian,” which is one their sophomore album Just Enough Hip To Be Woman, which was released this week. The tour brought them into New York for a two night run that also included Baby’s All Right on Friday night.

The vocals of Broncho’s lead singer Ryan Lindsey has an early Talking Heads ring to it, that just commands a room. The band were joined by two female members of Low Litas, who also opened the show. Together they formed a tight pack that grooved with precision and ease. The higlight of the night was the joyful performance of “Class Historian,” but there wasn’t a dull moment to be found with their set, which was highly enjoyable throughout.

Find some photos of the show posted below.
