It’s been three years since Burst Apart, the last full-length from The Antlers. Sure, we got two EP’s ([together] and Undersea) but it’s been too long since we got a full album full of their heartbreaking beauty. We’re in luck, as they have announced that their new album Familiars is out June 17 via Anti-.
Familiars was recorded, engineered and produced by the band in their Brooklyn studio. Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Beach House) mixed he album at DNA Downtown Studios.
The band has released the video for first cut “Palace” and as you expect, it’s a heart-breaker. What starts with light piano cords and a lonely horn turns into a devastating piece from frontman Peter Silberman. A heartfelt confession that lays it all out on the table.
Stream it below via the music video, which was directed by Hana Tajima. I’ve also included the tracklisting for Familiars which is posted after “Palace.”
