The first taste of Hamilton Leithauser’s work as a solo artist has arrived. It’s a track called “Alexandra” and it’s off his debut solo album Black Hours and it’s out via Ribbon Music on May 6. I’ve shared the album art below.
He’s shared the music video for “Alexandra” which also serves as our first listen. It’s a quick paced track that has the familiar vocal draw of Leithauser with some light Americana influences sprinkled throughout. There are naturally going to be some reminders of The Walkmen found, but it’s clear that Leithauser is very much doing his own thing with his solo work.
In the video you’ll notice a familiar face on bass: Vampire Weekened’s Rostam Batmanglij who actually helped co-write the track, as well as produce/mix it.
Check out the clip for “Alexandra” below. Hamilton is making his live debut in NYC on April 15 & 16 with an early and late show. Tickets for those go on sale tomorrow. He will also release an exclusive 7″ of the single on Record Store Day (with a b-side titled “In The Shallows.”). I’ve also shared the Black Hours tracklist.
