Over the last few years, Wild Beasts have emerged as one of my favorite artists. Like most, I got into them after the release of Two Dancers. However, things got serious after I saw them perform live for the first time at Le Poison Rogue. Their live show and execution blew me away, and I’ve become a pretty big fan ever since.
It’s been three years since their last album. But that will change on February 24 when they release their new one, Present Tense, via Domino Records. The announcement comes with the release of new single “Wanderlust.” It comes in the form of a music video.
“Wanderlust” combines all the best parts of Wild Beasts sound into one wholesome blanket of warmth. Layers of synth combine on top of the steady hits of a drum kit while their unmistakable vocals lead the charge. It’s a true grower. It took me a couple of listens to really dig my teeth in, but soon enough the genius of the song poked its head out. “Don’t confuse me with someone who gives a fuck” may be my new favorite song lyric.
The band also announced some new U.S. tour dates, which includes a stop in NYC on March 4, where they will play Music Hall of Williamsburg (tickets on sale tomorrow @ noon). Find those dates below along with the album tracklist, and the video for “Wanderlust.”
