GEMS have been a band that’s made quite an impact in just a year’s time. They only released their debut single last November, and now they’ve just announced their debut EP Medusa, which will come out on November 12. The announcement came with the title track, a glorious bit of chamber-pop that will leave you mesmerized.
I had the pleasure of hearing “Medusa” live when I saw them play at Pianos over the summer, and I’m proud to report that they’ve done an insanely great job at capturing the unreal atmosphere of the song. It’s a winner, something that you should play late at night and let it do its work.
The band will be playing a few shows in NYC next week for CMJ. Come through, you may just have the pleasure of having all 6’6 of me block your view. Find those dates posted after the stream of “Medusa” which you can find below.
10/16 – Brooklyn Bowl – Brooklyn, NY (7:45 PM, All Things Go CMJ showcase)
10/17 – Mercury Lounge – New York, NY (10 PM, Windish CMJ showcase)
11/11 – Music Hall of Williamsburg – Brooklyn, NY (w/ Anna Calvi)
