The Drums’ frontman Jonny Pierce has announced that he has a solo album in the works. He has just released a video for his debut solo track, “I Didn’t Realise”. It has the same synth-nature to it as The Drums, with more of an emphasis on Jonny’s vocals. Songs like “In The Cold” hinted at this type of work, and if you like the bare nature of some of The Drums work, then you should be ready to enjoy this song quite a bit.
Pierce wrote, produced, and recorded the album entirely by himself. The album (which is currently untitled) will see the light of day sometime in 2013. Here’s how Pierce describes his solo venture:
Some might say it’s strange for a man to bare his soul the way I do on this album but I wanted to do something that exposed me for who I am even more so than anything I have done with The Drums … I wanted to be as self-indulgent as possible with this album. This is pop done the way I think it should be done.
