Zach of We Listen For You took the time to personally share a band discovery with me. I knew right away it had to be something truly spectacular.
In the e-mail was a simple message: “Band To Check Out”. It was a band called Murals from Louisville, Kentucky. They’re preparing to release their debut album On A Passing Cloud on July 6.
In the e-mail I was lead to the lead single “Eyes Of Love”. After one listen I was completely transfixed. Some of the finest vocal work that I’ve heard from any band period, let alone a new band. There’s all kind of influences floating around, but there’s definitely a finer 50’s/60’s quality to it that just works so well, The Zombies come to mind at certain parts.
There’s no doubt in my mind that the song is one the years best so far. Take a listen for yourself.
The band is stopping by Brooklyn’s Cameo Gallery on July 26 and Pianos on July 27. I guess I have plans for those days now.
On A Passing Cloud is currently available to pre-order at bandcamp. I literally purchased the vinyl on the spot after listening to “Eyes Of Love”. The whole album is available to stream via soundcloud. You can take a listen below.
