Polly Hi is the project of Brooklyn native Sam McDougle. He’s played fiddle in an old time band and drums in another, and now he’s deciding to venture out on his own. He’s posted three fantastic little songs on his website that I saw worthy of an introducing piece.
These songs were recorded on dusty old tape machines in a friends bedroom studio. It’s amazing because these songs have a bright eager-minded focus that sounds easy going and upbeat. Sam has a natural singer-songwriter charm to him that is hard to come by. Once you hit the play button you just know that you stumbled onto something special.
Whether it’s the sunny dreamy strum of “All My Energy”, the Elliot Smith reminder on “In The Morning”, there’s a versatile musician waiting to be discovered, and that’s where I come in.
All three of his just-released singles are posted below. They’re all magical, and worthy of discovery. What are you waiting for?
