To get tickets for Nine Inch Nails two-night run at Radio City Music Hall on the nights of October 13 & 14, Trent Reznor turned back the clock a bit and announced that tickets for the shows would be sold in-person at the Radio City Music Hall box office only. For those devoted enough to camp out overnight into a cold rainy morning, they were lucky enough to score tickets to see NIN at a gorgeous theatre that was slightly on the intimate side for them (though it didn’t come close to seeing them at one of the final shows at Webster Hall last summer).
A week or so later that the band then announced additional shows at Kings Theatre…that would be sold online..So you can’t blame fans who camped out for being a little bit upset and feeling as they were the “true” fans out of the bunch who got to catch Trent and co. during their mini New York residency.
It did seem to bring out the very best, as the crowd during night two of the Radio City run on October 14 was on their fight from the very minute that Reznor and the band came out to the smoke-filled stage. With the lights on, they kicked into the first four songs off their 1999 album The Fragile, having some wonder if the band was going to play it in its entirety. They didn’t, and Reznor took some time to address the crowd and acknowledge the weird shape that the setlist was taking. From there the band stretched out to other areas of their long-standing discography, even going on to play two more songs from The Fragile.
You never know how many chances you will get to see a band like Nine Inch Nails, who have already tried to call it quits once before. But getting to see them, one of the last remaining legendary modern rock acts, play at a lavish room like Radio City, makes you wonder how they could ever possible hang it up again.
