On Saturday, June 18, California record label and concert throwers Burger Records brought over their Burger Beach Bash festival to New York for its inaugural edition here. It took place at the unusual location of MCU Park in Coney Island right smack during the Mermaid Parade festivities.
As you’d expect, the day featured an eclectic lineup that featured something for everyone. Headlining the festival was Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA, who went on late and almost didn’t play because he still hadn’t been paid. Andrew W.K. was as bizarre and wild as you’d expect, but it was Canadian indie punk-rockers Fucked Up who stole the show. Frontman Damian Abraham was a ball of energy from liftover, ripping beach balls and putting them around the neck and entering the crowd multiple times. It was incredible.
The festival also featured sets from Milk N’ Cookies, Pentagram, The Mystery Lights, Fletcher C Johnson. Find a giant gallery of shots from all the acts posted below.
