Hiss Golden Messenger, the North Carolina band fronted by MC Taylor and Scott Hirsch, delighted the Newport crowd with a set of folk-minded rock and roll.
This was my second time seeing them play, with the first coming when they opened for The Tallest Man On Earth at Music Hall of Williamsburg earlier in the summer. Which made the fact that they were both playing on the first day of Newport that much more special.
I only was able to stay for a couple of songs before having to rush over to another stage, but the group delivered a tight fine-tuned set that was damn hard to leave.
