This Sunday, Brooklyn electronic venue Verboten will once again take over the spacious outdoor space of 50 Kent for their second waterfront throw-down of the summer, Verboten StageOne.
The festival sports a stacked lineup of some of the hottest up-and-coming talent in the electronic/house genre. Headlining the festival is the unstoppable Jamie XX of The XX, whose record In Colour (released via Young Turks) is one of the best reviewed albums of 2015 so far. He recently played a highly sought out performance at Terminal 5 that sold out instantly, with resell tickets on secondary markets reaching prices 3x above face value ($30-$90+).
Rounding out the rest of the day festival is London producer Maya Jane Coles, Berlin/Cologne duo Andhim, Dublin native Gavin Lynch’s project Matador, and Brooklyn duo Bedouin.
Although electronic music isn’t typically our forte, I am always looking to expand my horizons a bit, especially if it means finally getting to see Jamie XX perform live. Along with the music, the expanded outdoor summer series features world-class talent, amazing sound and visual installation, delicious food vendors, games and much more.
Tickets for the event (which is 21+ only) are currently still on sale, but move fast as there’s no guarantee they’ll last through the weekend.
