On October 21 Jukebox The Ghost released their new self-titled album via Yep Roc. To celebrate the album’s release, they played a private release party at a swanky penthouse at The Standard Hotel.
After checking in upon entry, I was given a playing card that I needed to get into the show. I ended up forking the card over to the man guarding the elevator that would take us up to the penthouse. We packed into the elevator and were taken up several stories and unleashed into a penthouse that was made tiny with all the packed fans that were there for the same reason.
Jukebox The Ghost took the stage, with the gourgous Manhattan skyline serving as a breathtaking backdrop. They played their new album in order, delighting the packed house with feel-good pop-anthems that were simply irresistible. They let drummer Jesse Kristin take the lead for a song for the first time ever, and he killed it. You could tell the band were having a lot of fun up there, just psyched to be playing a show at such as unusual, and cool, setting. As it turns out Emmy Kinney (Beth on The Walking Dead) was also in attendance, another cool fact of an already very memorable night.
