State Parque are a Boston, Massachusetts-based band that released their self-titled album back in March via Listless Records.
“Last Summer” closes out the album with a jangly set of guitar work that has a surfy loose garage rock vibe that reminds us of some of the work of Soft Pack and Real Estate. Super energetic and it wastes no time kicking into high gear, sending the album off into the summer in a perfect fitting fashion.
Speaking on “Last Summer” they say:
“This song is an encouragement to not let past disappointments and trauma prevent you from missing present opportunities. We use a monologue of a friend trying to get you to go to the beach as a way of expressing that sentiment and power it with some energetic and lush riffs!”
Another highlight is “Worried” is the records’ opening cut, one that sets the tone for the rest of the record with confidence. There’s a shimmering nature it with a really positive radiant energy to it, that features some early 2010s indie rock vibes and a ramshackle nature that certainly fits its message.
As the band add:
This song is thesis of our album. What you can do is all you can do. Go easy on yourself 🙂
