Moonwards is a band from Helsinki, Finland, who returned last month with their new EP, Moonwards II,

“Shockwave” is the EP’s closing track, an epic blend of 90s shoegaze and alt rock, that was born as “a celebration of the melancholic beauty in things ending.” The track carries a lot of the melodic warmth and golden heft of bands like The Cranberries along with more modern acts such as Wolf Alice.

Detailing the track, the band adds:

Lyrically with this track we drew a lot of inspiration from the Lars von Trier film ‘Melancholia’, and just like the film, the titular shockwave travelling through our bodies can both be a literal shockwave of a colliding planet with ours, or a metaphorical one that wakes us up from our collective depressive slumber.
