Summer Fades Away is a post-rock ensemble from Changsha, China that recently returned with Endless, their first album in 13 years (released via 1724 Records). The album is one that “explores personal growth, the passage of time, urban transformation, and the storms of a changing nation.”
“Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer’s Day” is it’s epic closing track, one that has a sprawling blend of rousing and emotive post rock guitars in the vein of Explosions In The Sky, with a spoken word playing alongside it, only adding to the hypnotic and cinematic nature of the track.
Then there’s the bookend of opening cut “June Yui”, which opens with a delicate and somber quality, that slowly sets the table for the rest of the record, before exploding into an epic crescendo that is quite simply, uplifting.
