Hectorine is the Bay Area-based art pop/soft rock project of Sarah Gagnon, who returned this weekend with her third full-length album, Arrow of Love, released via Take a Turn Records.

Opening the album is “Is Love An Illusion?”, a spellbinding slice of 80s art pop with some old school pop magic and a soulful seductive vocal performance that pierces through with a commanding sense of authenticity that has some old school magic that is utterly transfixing.

Speaking on the track, Gagnon adds:

“A friend once told me that when Joni Mitchell left Graham Nash she did it with a note that read, ‘Graham, if you hold the grains of sand too tightly in your hand, they’ll slip through your fingers.’ I wrote that song in one sitting with that breakup letter in mind.”
