Justin Sconza is a singer-songwriter based out of Chicago, who recently shared his new album, Standards. One of the highlights of the album is opening track and lead single “If I Could Do It All Over Again”, a song about wishfully thinking you could have done something better – even though you know you probably would’ve done the same thing anyway.
The bittersweet notion of the idea is captured in the track, a wistful blend of indie pop with a rather charming nature that has a warmth to it – despite its grappling with some tough subject matter. The melancholic nature is delivered earnestly and feels like it could have been a lost indie gem of the 90s.
Speaking on the single, Sconza adds:
“If I Could Do It All Over Again” is about wishfully thinking you could have done something better but resigning yourself to the fact that who you were in that moment is exactly who you’ll always have been in that moment and you’d do it just the same way every time. But there’s an element of hope that emerges just by acknowledging past mistakes, so maybe the future is brighter.
