New York-based musician Looi is preparing for the released of her debut EP, which is due out next month via Fever Sleep Records.
Ahead of its release she has shared its single “Western Therapy”, a track that “explores the intergenerational complexities of her Chinese-Malaysian heritage in an American setting.”
The anthemic track blends elements of indie rock, folk, and chamber pop in a way that feels like a euphoric emotional release that packs a significant punch. The way Looi is able to convey a moving subject matter with a genre-bending sound that hits as instantly as it does is an impressive effort.
